Le Train Bleu

The Quartet

Marco Coppi - flute

Gianni Landroni - guitar

Tiziano Barbieri - double bass

Roberto 'Red' Rossi - drums

The quartet offers an original repertoire distinguished by its vibrant colors, rich compositional textures, and a constant dialogue between improvisation and composition. A progressive jazz that, in its chamber version, explores traces of classical music, ignites rock references, and is tinged with impressionist atmospheres. The pieces are composed by Tiziano Barbieri.

The quartet takes its name from the ballet "Le Train Bleu," Op. 84, whose music was composed by Darius Milahud. The story was written by Jean Cocteau, and the set was created using an enlargement of Pablo Picasso's "Deux Femme Courant Sur La Plage," which he also designed. The stage costumes were designed by the young Coco Chanel. The premiere took place on June 20, 1924, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.
